Problem

Pressure ulcers (PUs) are a tissue injury resulting from pressure or from pressure combined with shear or friction. In the U.S., the annual treatment cost of PUs has been estimated at $11 billion and the cost to manage a single full-thickness PU is $70,000.

This case was originally designed in house by PTI Design before I was there (years earlier). It created the Dabir brand. Using insights and stakeholder feedback from this Gen 1, we added new capabilities and enhanced the overall UX.

Prototyping & Refinement

At this point we started to polish the design and last minute details as we were preparing the CAD model for manufacturing. We printed out an FDM prototype to review size and proportions.
